Why Choose Vida for Autism?

Because we CARE about the services we provide.

Our Mission

Vida for Autism’s mission is simple; we care for others and the services we provide to create a dedicated team committed to compassionate care.

Our Goals

The overall goal of Vida for Autism is to collaborate with families and other professional providers to create an effective treatment plan to teach children social and communicative behaviors needed to independently function in everyday life.

Our Services

Our services are designed from evidence-based interventions and treatment plans addressing deficiencies in development that result in limitations to specific areas or overall limitations in communication, personal, social, academic, and working level of each child.

Comprehensive Intervention

Comprehensive Intervention refers to treatment of the multiple affected developmental domains, such as communicative, social, and adaptive functioning. Maladaptive behaviors, such as noncompliance, tantrums, and stereotypy are also typically the focus of treatment. These programs tend to range from 25-35 hours of treatment per week (plus direct and indirect supervision and caregiver training). All services are one-on-one with trained Behavior Technicians who are under constant supervision of a clinical supervisor.

Focused Intervention

Focused Intervention refers to treatment of a specific area of developmental domain; typically, this include one or two areas of development and the recommended number of hours is determined by the number and intensity of goals developed. Treatment is usually provided in the afternoons and is typically 10-15 hours per week due to children school schedule. This model may involve increasing socially appropriate behavior or reducing socially inappropriate behavior as the primary goal. Our team works collaboratively with schools and other services in order to maximize learning opportunities and maintain consistency.

Social Skills Group

Social Skills Group focuses on interactions and skills necessary for building and maintaining relationships. Each meeting is themed and includes pre-planned projects fostering peer interaction and appropriate communication skills. Peer groups are assigned based on age and developmental skill level. Goals will focus on necessary societal rules and general social/behavioral expectations. These skills will have a large impact on a person’s life, increasing success to maintain friendships, participate in classrooms, and obtain/maintain employment.

Community Integration

Community integration enables individuals with disabilities to fully participate in life at the same level as non-disabled individuals. This participation can take place in neighborhoods, schools, workplace, congregations, community centers, and more. Community integration should take place across an individual’s lifespan and be tailored to their stage of life and interests to maintain or increase their independence. Community integration programs keep individuals with disabilities engaged and provide them with opportunities to learn, work, and play a longside everyone else

Family Education & Training

Parents and family members are an integral part of an effective treatment and the success of each child. Vida for Autism strives to include parents to develop behavior management techniques that can be used within their home and community. Parents/Caregivers will be familiar with the basic characteristics and diagnostic criteria of Autism to better understand their child’s deficits and needs. They will learn basic concepts of ABA and strategies to facilitate their child’s learning and independence. Parent training will be a major, and one of the most important components of the treatment plan. The ultimate goal is for parents to become advocates, educators and mentors to their children.

Consultation

Vida for Autism strives to disseminate ABA education to those who need it. Sometimes a family or individual is in need of professional, experienced assistance for a specific issue but is not in need or have availability for a comprehensive or focused intervention, our more intensive models. In these instances, a more consolidated approach is available. Our team collaborates closely with other professionals including teachers and families to create individualized plans that are effective and sustainable. We believe that with the right care, every child can achieve success and gain self-confidence in school and their community period.

What is Autism And ABA Therapy?

Autism, or autism spectrum disorder (ASD), refers to a broad range of conditions characterized by challenges with social skills, repetitive behaviors, speech and nonverbal communication. According to the Centers for Disease Control, autism affects an estimated 1 in 36 children in the United States today. Because autism is a spectrum disorder, each person with autism has a distinct set of strengths and challenges. Some people with ASD may require significant support in their daily lives, while others may need less support and, in some cases, live entirely independently. Signs of autism usually appear by age 2 or 3. Some associated development delays can appear even earlier, and often, it can be diagnosed as early as 18 months. Research shows that early intervention leads to positive outcomes later in life for people with autism.

Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is an evidence-based methodology derived from the science of behaviorism. It investigates the contingencies that are maintaining behaviors and offers principles to be applied for teaching socially important behaviors and replacing maladaptive behaviors. ABA therapy is highly effective in the treatment of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), backed by decades of research and endorsed by The American Academy of Pediatrics and the American Psychological Association. ABA helps individuals on the autism spectrum to improve communication, social skills, and other important areas of functioning. We are here to support your child’s success and help them rise above challenges. Call us at (818) 350-3839 or email us at admin@vida4autism.care to learn more.
